Power Trading

Bilateral, wholesale and regional transactions, subject to licensing, market rules and transmission access.

Selective by design: projects advance when resource supply, grid access, contracted demand and finance have a credible route to alignment.

Strategic Focus

Local origination. Commercial structure. Specialist execution.

Mulopwe Energy originates opportunities, structures the commercial framework and brings together the technical, financial and operating capabilities required to move viable power projects toward execution.

1. For EDM / The System

Dispatchable capacity that can support renewable integration, strengthen reliability and reduce exposure to supply shortfalls.

2. For Industrial Customers

Reliable, competitively structured power with flexible commercial arrangements matched to operating requirements.

3. For Investors & Partners

Local origination, disciplined commercial structuring and access to screened Mozambican power opportunities.

Business Platform

Three business lines. One disciplined development process.

Each business line can stand alone, but the greatest value is created when generation, offtake and trading are considered together.

Gas-to-Power

Dispatchable generation for grid supply, industrial demand, embedded generation and renewable firming.

Solar

Utility, commercial and industrial solutions, with storage or hybridisation where it improves project economics.

  3. Develop

  4. Structure

  5. Finance

  6. Execute

  7. Operate

Development principle: commit significant capital only after the critical commercial, regulatory, technical and financing conditions have been sufficiently de-risked.

Mozambique Opportunity

A platform for dispatchable power, competitive solar, and regional connectivity.

  • 01

    Domestic Gas

Existing and emerging gas resources create a platform for dispatchable power and industrial energy solutions.

  • 02

    Solar Resource

Strong solar conditions support competitive daytime generation and hybrid power configurations.

  • 03

    System & Demand

Grid expansion, industrialisation and regional interconnection create demand for new generation and transmission-compatible projects.

High-level context only. No project-specific capacity claim is implied.

Business Lines

Solutions are sized to the customer, the system, and the financing case.

Gas-fired power plant illuminated at night

Gas-to-Power

  • Grid-connected generation, dedicated industrial supply, embedded generation and renewable firming.
  • Technology selection based on operating profile and economics: gas engines, open-cycle or combined-cycle solutions.
  • Potential structures include utility PPAs, bilateral supply agreements, joint ventures or other bankable offtake arrangements.

Solar Power

  • Utility-scale generation for grid supply.
  • Commercial and industrial solutions focused on cost, reliability and energy security.
  • Hybrid and decentralised systems where they provide the strongest technical and economic outcome.

Project capacity is determined case by case by demand, fuel or resource availability, infrastructure, grid conditions, connection capability and bankability.

Power Trading & Regional Market

Regional reach, anchored by disciplined domestic demand.

Power Trading Capabilities

  • Structured supply to eligible customers under fixed, indexed or otherwise agreed commercial terms.
  • Purchase and resale of third-party power where margin, credit and volume risks can be appropriately managed.
  • Regional transactions through eligible structures and counterparties where cross-border capacity is available.

Regional Market Guardrail

Mozambique is interconnected with the regional power system through EDM, HCB and MOTRACO, all listed as SAPP members. SAPP provides organised market mechanisms including Day-Ahead and Forward Physical Markets.

Cross-border transactions remain subject to licensing, SAPP participation rules, transmission capacity, wheeling arrangements and counterparty credit. Regional trading is a disciplined extension of the platform — not a substitute for contracted domestic demand.

Partnership Model

Bankability is built through the right combination of capabilities.

Mulopwe Energy seeks to complement utilities, public institutions and industrial consumers by combining local origination with commercial structuring and specialist partners.

Partnership Pathways

  • 1. Independent Power Producer

Independent power producer structures with long-term offtake where appropriate.

  • 2. Bilateral or Licensed Commercialisation

Bilateral or licensed commercialisation structures subject to applicable market and network-access rules.

  • 3. Co-Development & Joint Ventures

Co-development and joint ventures where alignment with a utility, public entity, investor, technology provider or operator improves bankability and execution.

Public Entities

Government departments, agencies, parastatals

Industrial Consumers

Commercial & industrial power users

Investors & Financiers

Development finance, private equity, lenders

Technology Providers

The structure is selected project by project. No single ownership, financing or offtake model is assumed to fit every opportunity.

Risk Management

Identify early. Allocate intelligently. Commit progressively.

Power projects are investable when key risks are identified early and allocated to the parties best able to manage them.

Offtake risk

Prioritise creditworthy counterparties, contracted demand, bankable payment security and clear termination / default mechanics.

Fuel supply risk

Match generation commitments to dependable fuel availability, pricing structure, transport or pipeline access and supply flexibility.

Grid connection risk

Confirm connection point, evacuation capacity, network studies, programme and responsibility for required reinforcement before major commitment.

FX / currency risk

Align revenue and debt currency where possible; evaluate indexation, hedging, reserve accounts and other contractual mitigants.

Governance & ESG

Practical governance for disciplined decisions and local value.

Governance

  • Board oversight of strategy, investment approvals and material risks.

  • Executive accountability for origination, commercial structuring, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.

  • Project-specific expertise — technical, legal, financial, environmental and operating expertise engaged where required.
